About Us

A century-old institution dedicated to the living tradition of Sanskrit scholarship.

Sri Vyasatirtha Research Institute

The Sri Vyasatirtha Research Pratishtanam was established in Mysore in the year 2019 under the divine guidance of His Holiness Sri Vidyashreesha Tirtha. The institution was founded with a clear purpose to preserve, study, and share the depth of India’s spiritual and philosophical heritage in its purest form.
With the support of the Government of Karnataka, the institute has already published more than 30 research works. These publications reflect a sincere and disciplined effort to bring ancient knowledge into meaningful relevance for today’s world.
From its very beginning, the institute has focused on creating a strong foundation for research in Dvaita Vedanta, Sanskrit studies, and allied Shastra disciplines. It stands today as a growing center where tradition meets thoughtful academic work.

Rooted in the Legacy of Sri Vyasaraja Matha

The Sri Vyasatirtha Research Institute draws its inspiration from the great lineage of Sri Vyasaraja Matha, a spiritual tradition that spans nearly 800 years.
This lineage traces back to Sriman Madhvacharya, born at Pajaka Kshetra near Udupi, who established the Dvaita philosophy and laid the foundation for a powerful parampara of knowledge and devotion.
Over generations, great scholars such as Sri Padmanabha Tirtha, Sri Jayatirtha, and Sri Rajendra Tirtha strengthened this tradition through their writings, teachings, and spiritual leadership.
The Matha gained widespread recognition during the time of Sri Vyasaraja, one of the most revered saints of this lineage. As Rajaguru of the Vijayanagara Empire, he played a vital role in shaping Indian philosophical thought and guiding society with clarity and wisdom.
Sri Vyasarajaru was not only a profound scholar but also a social reformer. He nurtured the Haridasa movement by guiding great saints like Purandaradasa and Kanakadasa. His efforts brought spiritual knowledge closer to common people through devotion, music, and teaching.
The original seat of Sri Vyasaraja Matha at Sosale, near Mysore, continues to stand as a symbol of this timeless heritage.

Guided by His Holiness Sri Vidyashreesha Tirtha

The present Peetha is adorned by His Holiness Sri Vidyashreesha Tirtha, the 41st pontiff of Sri Vyasaraja Matha, whose life reflects deep scholarship, discipline, and commitment to knowledge.
He has mastered classical disciplines such as Nyaya, Vedanta, Vyakarana, and Mimamsa, and has contributed extensively to Sanskrit scholarship. His Holiness has served as the Vice-Chancellor of Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha, Tirupati, and has edited and published more than 100 scholarly works.
He has also served for nearly three decades as the Director of the Purnaprajna Research Institute and led the Publication Division of the Dvaita Vedanta Studies and Research Foundation, strengthening research and publication efforts.
Under his guidance, the Sri Vyasatirtha Research Institute continues to grow with clarity, purpose, and authenticity.
