Śrī Madhvācārya (Jagadguru Śrīmad Ānandatīrtha Bhagavatpādācārya) composed profound commentaries on forty hymns (sūktas) of the Ṛgveda, a fact well known to scholars of the Dvaita tradition. While these commentaries are formally based on forty selected hymns, learned scholars have long recognized that they reveal the inner purport of the Vedas as a whole, unfolding the deeper theological and philosophical message of the Vedic corpus.
This remarkable Ṛgveda Bhāṣya, distinguished by its originality and supported by extensive scriptural authority, was further elucidated by Śrī Jayatīrtha Munīndra, the illustrious commentator of the Dvaita tradition, whose Ṭīkā offers profound insights into the words, sentences, and means of valid knowledge (pramāṇas) employed by Śrī Madhvācārya.
To facilitate a clearer understanding of this profound commentary, Śrī Kambaluru Rāmacandra Tīrtha composed an illuminating Ṭippaṇī (sub-commentary). Revered as one of the pontiffs who adorned the Sarvajña Pīṭha established by Śrī Madhvācārya, Śrī Rāmacandra Tīrtha explains the deeper intent of both the Bhāṣya and the Ṭīkā. His work not only resolves textual and interpretative issues but also showcases the depth and elegance of the Sanskrit grammatical tradition.
This volume brings together these invaluable layers of interpretation, making it an indispensable resource for students, scholars, and researchers engaged in the study of Vedic exegesis and Dvaita Vedānta.
